Comparing this to RATT or early Hetfield, with all due respect, doesn’t do justice to the vocals at all. I love early Metallica and I hate RATT. These vocals are far better than either. I don’t know how no one caught the Scorpions influence, at least on Daemons Calling. Either way, Sabire often transcend their influences to make Gates Ajar a repeat listen.

So I can't leave a long enough review to say everything I want. But I will say this, I love this EP. It's a great little follow up to times, and has just enough of a dynamic shift in sound to prove that Smoulder isn't a one trick pony with their first album's formula. This one really plays up the 70s prog aspects (DUST and Manilla Road influences definitely shine through even harder here). It's still Smoulder, don't get me wrong. Just a different side in some ways, all of which are good.
